                        II. MARRIAGE  FAMILY THERAPY (MFT) SEMINARS

These seminars, though designed for students pursuing an MFT license, are open to all students.

MFT Faculty request that nonstudents planning to attend MFT seminars let them know in advance.

 

Counseling Older Adults, Part 1                                  Saturday, September 17, 10:00am-3:00pm

Michael McGlathery, MA, MFT, WISR Faculty.   This is the first in a two part series on counseling the older adult.  We will discuss theory and technique on working for this growing population. At the end of these seminars, you should be able to diagnose dementia vs. depression related cognitive problems.  This is not the course on elder abuse though we will discuss the consequences of abuse. Come with stories of your own to make the class interesting and interactive.  Recommended readings; 1. "Counseling the Older Adult: A Training Manual in Clinical Gerontology," Patricia A. All School Gathering                                            Saturday, September 24, 9:45am-1:00pm (with optional afternoon session, 1:00-3:00 pm) This will take the place of the monthly half day seminar for MFTs.  See below for more information. III. ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

All School Gathering: Open Space* ~ Saturday, Sept. 24, 9:45-1:00pm (w/optional pm session)

The Open Space meeting format was developed in recent decades to facilitate planned spontaneity. We will begin with introductions, then invite those who are inspired to come up with topics and to offer to lead discussion groups.  Possible topics may include but are not limited to: sharing our WISR projects, Action Research, Participatory Research, Grant Writing, Multiculturalism....  All WISR learners and faculty are expected to make every effort to attend!  Alumni, Board and friends are welcome.
