II. MARRIAGE FAMILY THERAPY (MFT) SEMINARS
These seminars, though designed for students pursuing an MFT license, are open to all students.
MFT Faculty request that nonstudents planning to attend MFT seminars let them know in advance.
Psychopathology- Depression and Anxiety, Part 1 of 3
Ronald Mah, MA, MFT, WISR Faculty. Saturday, January 14, 10:00am-1:00pm
Diagnosis of mental disorders or client problems may be viewed as four clinical presentations: crisis, which has its own demands; psychosis and other chemically induced issues like mania, again with its own demands; depression; and anxiety as expressed in a multitude of DSM diagnoses. Anxiety and depression can be conceived as two sides of the same fundamental issue. These seminars will use that framework to go through the DSM diagnoses, and see what that implies for assessment and diagnosis and for treatment. (Ronald Mah''s next seminars will be Saturday, February 4, 2006, 10am-3pm & March 4, 10-1pm.)***
Treatment Planning and Case Management, II
Michael McGlathery, MA, MFT, WISR Faculty. Saturday, January 21, 10:00am-3:00pm
This will be a continuation of the previous seminar, surveying how to manage cases in the clinical setting. Participants are asked to bring with them real examples of case management or an example of how to manage a fictitious case. (Michael McGlathery’s tentative next seminar dates will be Saturday, February 25, 2006, 10am-1pm & March 25, 10-3pm.)***
***There will probably be an All School Gathering on a weekend in the next few months which would be scheduled instead of the half day MFT seminar for that month.
