EliRosenblatt has been organizing for human rights and social justice for morethan 20 years, mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area and Portland, OregonHe eventually homed in on prison issues and began freelance work assisting attorneyswith death penalty appeals. For many years, he was active with groups such as Food Not Bombs, the National Lawyer’s Guild, the RealDragon Prison Project, the California Coalition for Battered Women in Prison,and Free Radio Berkeley. Eli edited theSouth End Press book, Criminal Injustice:Confronting the Prison Crisis. He also founded the Prison Activist Resource Center and wasthe founding coordinator of the NationalRadio Project’s PrisonDesk. As a planner and organizer, Eli has coordinated the logistics forseveral conferences and gatherings in the Bay Area and elsewhere. As aconsultant and contractor, Eli has provided custom installation of telephoneand voicemail systems, installed PC and Mac networks and upgrades, organizedfacilitation and consensus workshops, and conducted strategic planning retreatsfor numerous grassroots non-profits. He currently lives with his partner andson in Portland, Oregon. In Puddletown he’s found workthat fuels and sustains him as a new Dad, the“minister of oil” with Portland’sGoBiodiesel Cooperative, and asstorekeeper at Peoples Food Cooperative.
