I) INTERDISCIPLINARY SEMINARS

ALL SCHOOL GATHERING: COLLABORATION
Saturday, March 6, 9:45-1:15pm

We will hear about collaborative research already happening through WISR, face to face and
online. Students are asked to bring a list of topics they would like to do collaborative action-research on with students and others. Please bring fingerfood to share. Helpers are needed to set up and clean up. All WISR learners and faculty are expected to make every effort to attend! Alumni, Board, friends and people interested in attending WISR are encouraged to participate. ***For MFT students, attending this seminar will count as having attended an MFT seminar for the month of June.

COMMUNITY THINK TANKS, COLLABORATION & SOCIAL CHANGE:
ONGOING PHONE CONFERENCE

Thursday, March 18th, 6:30-8:00pm

Marilyn Jackson, PhD & Cynthia Lawrence, PhD, WISR Faculty

Marilyn Jackson will lead a discussion about the idea of developing a think tank about applying folk school values and methods to other groups. Cynthia Lawrence will lead a discussion on diversity in think tanks. Others are encouraged to call in with comments and questions. WISR Students are asked to call in to talk about future seminars they could lead and to brainstorm who they could collaborate with. Community Think Tanks are a type of Action Research which is one of WISR's few requirements; all WISR Students are highly encouraged to participate. The phone number and Conference Call login number will be emailed to WISR students; others may contact WISR for this information to participate.*

II) MARRIAGE FAMILY THERAPY (MFT) SEMINARS are designed for students pursuing an MFT license. Other interested persons are welcome to attend but are requested to RSVP. They will be held at WISR from 10am to 2pm with a short break. Bring a bag lunch.

WISR Faculty Carole Morton, MA, MFT, will not teach this month as student's are encouraged to attend the All School Gathering (ASG). For MFT students, attending the ASG will count as a regular MFT seminar for credit. (Carole Morton's upcoming seminar(s) on Psychopathology will be April 24 & May 22, {Psychopathology 4 & 5}; June 19, July 24 & August 21 {topic to be announced}).

FUNDAMENTAL THEORIES OF MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPY SERIES
Saturday, March 13, 10am-2pm

Jeanne Strauss, M.A., M.F.T., substituting for Ronald Mah, MA, MFT, WISR Faculty,
will present on theories and practices of MFTs. She will discuss clinical challenges from case studies of MFT work with children, individuals, couples, and families. (Upcoming seminar(s) led by Ronald Mah will be April 3 & May 1, 2010.) http://www.ronaldmah.com/

WISR PhD Alumnus John Borst will soon be offering an online course on qualitative research methods. The course will be available to all WISR students for no additional cost and for credit if they wish. There will be a modest fee for others who as an option can make arrangement to receive credit. Contact John Bilorusky (510/655-2830 johnb@wisr.edu) for more information or if you are interested in taking this online class.

WISR is looking for alternate space(s) for future events when we have more than one event or when we need more room. If you know of a free or lost cost location, please let us know.
